BIOGRAPHY

Peter Holvoet-Hanssen saw the light, as a new-born babe that is, on that fine day of 12th April 1960 in the Antwerp suburb of Merksem and still lives there. He is a performer at heart, one who, sword in hand, recites his poetry mostly from memory, sometimes accompanied by a violinist and double bassplayer. In 1998 his poetry volume Dwangbuis van Houdini (Houdini's Straightjacket; Prometheus, Amsterdam, 1998) appeared, followed by Strombolicchio - uit de smidse van Vulcanus (…- from the smithy of Volcanus; Prometheus, 1999). In the spring of 2001 Santander - ontboezemingen in het vossenvel (…-revelations in fox fur; Prometheus) was published, from which the poem 'Solferino'(on the Dutch part of this site) is taken.

His novella De vliegende monnik (The flying monk) is set to appear early 2004.

There is more info on him here, as of course on his own homepage: www.epibreren.com/holvoet_hanssen
