BIOGRAPHY
Menno van der Beek (Rotterdam, 25th March 1967) is a poet
and part-time computer programmer living in Rotterdam.
In 1992 he issued, far too quickly, a volume of free verse
on his own; since 1997 sonnets of his have appeared in
magazines and electrical periodicals (Liter, Woordwerk,
Zulma, Meander),
which were subsequently bound together in 1999 as a book,
entitled Vergezocht (Far-fetched) with Uitgeverij
Boekencentrum in Zoetermeer. The structure of his sonnets
is breaking up these days, but then one Jacques
Perk is more than enough. Because anthologies appear
to be the eventual saviour for every poet, he read somewhere,
he is very happy to have made it into three: De beste
gedichten van 1999 (The best poems of 1999;
editor Jozef Deleu, De Arbeiderspers, 2000), Symbolen
en Cymbalen (Symbols and Cymbals; Boekencentrum,
2000) en Hier lonkt een spiegel (Eyes on the
mirror; Interim, 2001).
In 2002 he published the volume Waterdicht, gedichten
(Watertight, poems) with publisher Mozaïek
in Zoetermeer.
