Formed 02/09/1939 ex No. 3 (Bomber) Wing as No. 254 (Bomber) Wing under HQ Sudan at Khartoum.

By 06/1940 based at Erkowit (also named as 'Erkoweit) with Nos. 14, 47, detachment of 112 and 233 Sqn. 08/1940 to No. 203 Group; 09/1940 still at Erkowit with Nos. 45 & 237 Sqns, K Flit & No. 403 Flt. Disbanded 24/05/1941.
